DR. ISSA EPHTIMIOS “DR. E”

Issa Epthimios

After obtaining his medical degree, Dr. I.E. Ephtimios practiced medicine overseas for several years. His work during this period also involved medical consulting and management of seamen and offshore drilling personnel. He then went to the USA and completed his residency training in Internal Medicine in New Jersey. On completion of a Fellowship in General Internal Medicine, Health Services Research, and Clinical Epidemiology at the University of Iowa (USA), he moved to Canada, where he obtained another Fellowship in Infectious Diseases and Tropical Medicine at McMaster University Medical Centre in Hamilton, Ontario.

Dr. Ephtimios is one of the few Infectious Diseases Specialists with expertise in Infection Control, Clinical Tropical Medicine, as well as Infectious Diseases. Most recently, Dr. Ephtimios played a vital role in helping to contain the spread of SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) during the outbreak of the disease in Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area in 2003.

Dr. Ephtimios is also the Hospital Epidemiologist and Chair of the Infection Control Committee at Sacred Heart Health System (SHHS) and is Clinical Assistant Professor at Florida State University (FSU).

Meghan Martin photo

Meghan Martin began working as an RN in 2008 after obtaining her undergraduate degree from the University of West Florida, working the majority of her nursing career on the progressive care unit at Sacred Heart Hospital. Meghan furthered her education, graduating with a masters degree from the University of South Alabama and becoming board certified as an Adult Gerontological Acute Care Nurse Practitioner and also as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She has worked as an ARNP in the field of Infectious Diseases under Dr. Issa Epthimios for over 2 years.
